ADMISSION TO THE M.A. PROGRAMME
The post graduate department of economics has been introduced in the college from the year 2008-09.
Admission to the M.A. programme begins after the University of Pune declares the B.A. examination results.
Admission to the M.A. programme is based on marks obtained by the student at B.A. level. NO entrance / interview. Students with B.A. (Economics) are eligible to apply to the M.A. programme. Graduates from other streams can also apply.
The department follows the reservation policy of the University (as prescribed by the State Government).
Course Structure and Curriculum:
The semester system is being followed for the M.A. programme. Every semester a candidate has to appear for three compulsory papers. Apart from the compulsory papers, the candidate is required to offer one optional paper each semester. The following are the compulsory and optional papers offered by the Department of Economics:

Non-Core course in each of the two semesters, in M.A. Part I

Post Graduation Diploma in Taxation
Taxation is an economic activity consisting of tax computing methods, planning,
structure and processes for the purpose of getting revenue through taxes. Taxation
activity is completely merged with finance and control function of business. The Diploma proposed is in tune with the recommendation of UGC curriculum
Department. The main objective of DIT is to equip the students with knowledge &
occupational Competency towards taxation as an economic and commercial
activity.
Examination:-
The examination shall be held at the end of every academic year on the dates announced by the university. It will carry 600 marks in aggregate. Paper I to V will carry 100 marks each. Paper VI, project report, carries 100 marks (75 project work + 25 viva). Viva will be conducted by the college.
Standard and Grades of Passing:-
The standard of passing for the Diploma in Taxation-
50% marks in each paper.
The candidate obtaining marks between:-
a) 50% to 54% – II class
b) 55% to 59% – Higher II
c) 60% to 64% – I Class
d) 70% to 69% – I Class with Distinction
